Lady Gaga or Jimmy Choo shoes?
Monday, March 29th, 2010What do we have here? A super-shoe style statement? A glow in the dark light? or both, actually.
Forget kids trainers with those flashing air bubbles back in the 90’s, light-up shoes have climbed a long way up fashion’s ladder. Jimmy Choo’s latest design is a real masterpiece. A strappy, black shoe with a five-inch heel that lights up when you dance with florescent colors. The secret to their luminosity comes from a lightbulb in the plexi-platform that activates every time the wearer takes a step. There’s a little switch under the insole.
Who could have imagined that Jimmy Choo would design such a rainbow bright killer piece !
The price is closer to a pre-recession price tag of $2495. But that hasn’t stopped the clients from electing the shoe as the best one of Spring 2010. The shoe is so popular that the Jimmy Choo stores in Manhattan are completely out of stock and there’s a wait list to buy the strappy neon heels online.
Ladies that plunk down their Black AmEx card for the shoes should be warned that the light lasts for only about 100 hours. So be careful once it’s out, it can’t be replaced.
Despite their resemblance to the ’90s era “LA Lights” sneakers, Jimmy Choo founder and president Tamara Mellon insisted the inspiration for the shoes came from the artwork of Sue Webster and Tim Noble. “We just thought it would be super cool and fun to have a flashing dance shoe.”
Tamara, I agree with you your new design and concept is “super cool” ! Here is the new shoe generation.
