Cinema is one of Ellen von Unwerth’s major sources of inspiration. The emotion, mystery, glamour, strength and sense of fun that surrounds actors and actresses provide an endless reservoir of content for Ellen’s shoots. Just as a film director would, Ellen ‘directs’ her photo shoots. When she has a camera in her hands, the world of movies meets the photography world.
Ellen has invented her own style that is recognizable in an instant… opening a door to the secrets that lie behind each séance. Ellen von Unwerth loves all of her actors and actresses and this exhibition reflects only a part of her work. Over a hundred clichés can be viewed, some of which have never been shown before. Visitors can also view 4 exclusive videos directed by Ellen von Unwerth with the collaboration of the H&K Agency.
Staging: The photos are lit up and appear to be floating in the air. Visitors will enter a large, dark room and discover the photos that are suspended underneath the Glass Atrium, bordered by a variety of luminous frames such as make-up mirrors. Ellen von Unwerth’s videos will be projected in the smaller, independent rooms. Cut, that’s a take!
